1. Write catchy headlines.

One of the most important things you can do as an email marketer is to make your subject lines enticing. If you don’t, then your open and click-through rates will suffer.

Content: The reason why this is so important is that it will determine your open and click-through rate.

When writing headlines, you should make sure that the headline is catchy enough to attract the attention of your readers. A good and catchy headline helps you open an email and click on a link. The question is how do you write a catchy headline?

An email is one of the most powerful tools to use in customer acquisition and customer retention, it is also one of the most underutilized tools.

Below are some of the things you should keep in mind when crafting your email:

  • – Use short words and sentences, but don’t make them too short.
  • – Use proper punctuation.
  • – Use bullet points wherever possible.
  • – Use bold text for important information.
  • – Use smiley faces where possible.
  • – Don’t get carried away with colors, use yellow or red if you have to. and 60 characters.

If you’re using a mobile-friendly platform like MailChimp, then you should use a responsive design. This will make your email compatible with both desktop and mobile devices. It increases your open rate because people can read your entire headline without zooming in or out on their phones.

2. Don’t use spam words.

There are a lot of spam words you should avoid if you want to land your emails in their inbox. Words like free, make money etc. are known to be spammy. You should also avoid using email addresses that are not your own.

These are words that have been linked to spammers and most of the email filters have been designed to frown at them whenever they appear.

3. Avoid adding affiliate links in your emails.

I personally avoid including my affiliate links in my emails. For example, I send out a daily newsletter every morning. I might mention an offer or a new product that one of my subscribers might find interesting. But I never include my affiliate link in the email itself. Instead, I tell them to go to the website and check it out for themselves.

This is not always avoidable, and there are some situations in which you have no choice but to add an affiliate link. In these cases, be sure to shorten the link or cloak it.

Affiliate links are very long and ugly, and adding them exactly the way they are into your emails looks unprofessional. So make sure you avoid it or cloak it.

Your open rates will increase because you will be sending the right message to the right people. This will also increase your click-through rate.

For example, if you have a website related to digital marketing, you can categorize your emails to have bloggers on one side, email marketers on another, and SEOs on another category. This way your message will go out to the right people.

6. Check your sending score.

The sending score is a reputation metric that indicates how good you are as an email marketer. If you have a higher sending score, then, you are less likely to be seen as a spammer. However, if your sending score is on the low side, then, your emails might start being seen in the spam box.

Your sending score is how good of an email marketer you are. If you have a high sending score, your reputation is better and it’s less likely that people will mark your emails as spam. But if your score is low, then people are more likely to mark your emails as spam.

7. Give value and nurture your email list.

This is a common mistake that many marketers make. Once someone joins your email list, they have made a small commitment to you and trust you with their emails.

If you want to continue building trust with your email list, you have to make sure they keep learning from you. You can do that by giving them interesting content that is worth reading. If they don’t feel like it’s worth their time and effort, they will stop reading it altogether.
